Chen Shouzhu has studied dramatic theories for 50 years, and with a thorough Western and Chinese knowledge, he has established dramatic theoretical system, which provides vision for contemporary dramatic stud- ies. He put forward critical methods for dramatic stage through studying dramatic stage, combined with his social experiences and dramatic practice. He has devoted his whole life to China＇s modern dramatic studies and his spirit will illuminate contemporary scholars and practitioners in dramatic circles.
