"The Art of Being a Commander "by Sun Bin and Its Enlightenment

根据孙膑在《篡卒》、《八阵》、《兵情》等篇中提出的有关将帅的素质及其在战争中所起作用的论述,概括出孙膑"为将之道"的两个重要思想:"知道",即智、勇、数战、得民心、知敌情、通战术是孙膑选将的最高标准,是为将的综合素质的体现,并且只有从理论到实践真正掌握了战争的规律,具备驾驭战争全局的能力,才能成为"王者之将";"兵之道",即以"人和"思想为前提,揭示了士卒、将帅、君主三者在治军作战中的内在关系,强调同心协力、密切配合才能克敌制胜。这些思想对于当今军队建设,尤其是建设复合型高中级指挥人才队伍、建立纯洁和谐的内部关系具有深刻的启示。

The thesis summarizes two important thoughts of ＂the art of being a commander＂ which is posed by Sun Bin.It is based on the explanation made by Sun Bin in his book Military Science of Sun Bin on the quality of general commanders and its guiding roles played in the war.One of the important thoughts is ＂acknowledging the law of how to command troops＂ which means that intelligence,courage,lots of battles,people＇s support,being familiar with enemy,being proficient in tactics is the highest standard to appoint commanders according to Sun Bin,is the reflection of a commander＇s synthetic quality.At the same time,only knowing the law of wars both theoretically and practically,having the capability of controlling the overall situation of war,can a commander be a ＂king of commander＂.The other important thought is ＂the law of how to run an army＂.Its foundation is the thought of ＂unity＂.It proclaimed the inner relationships among soldiers,commanders and the sovereign in fighting as well as in running the army.It stressed that unity is the weapon of victory.The two thoughts provide profound enlightenment to our today＇s army construction esp.to constructing compound talents troops and establishing harmonious inner relationships.
