Since the probe of the steering tool is ceaselessly affected by the vibration of drill bit and drilling tool as well as the high formation pressure and temperature, many kinds of probe failures often occur while drilling. But, in most cases, they come from the sensors malfunction. According to the operation types such as directional operation, sidetracking, azimuthal correction, each kind of signal fault is controlled and adjusted so as not to stop measuring and to avoid wrong steering. The methods mentioned herein are effective.
