On Translation Means of Connotative Meaning in Chinese--English Translation

中译英时要充分理解原文的思想内容,体味原文的写作风格,挖掘原文的隐含意义,尽量避免欠额翻译。为了缩小中英文在结构和内容上的分歧,并使译文和原文最大限度地等值,针对文本隐含意义,应灵活的运用变动、补偿,去繁除冗等翻译方法。

When translating Chinese into English, it is essential to understand thoroughly the meaning of the original context, to comprehend its writing style, to dig its Connotative Meaning, and to avoid incomplete translation. It is necessary to adopt methods of change （translating according to connotative meaning rather than the literal meaning） and addition, in order to narrow the discrepancies between meanings and structures of Chinese and English, and to make the translation and its original context as equal as possible in meaning and style.
