Based on the standpoint of a professional architect, the paper discusses the line factors in the interpretation of urban physical spatial structure and the analysis and design of urban architecture. The line factors are classified into two kinds, one is the boundary surface, and the other is line of spatial vista axis. With the specific cases, the author illuminates the substantial influence brought by the line on the architecture design process. Finally, the paper explains the interpretational and the operational role of the line factors in the urban physical structure. The author also points out the position of the line factors in the abstract ＇point-line-surface＇ system.
