Linguistic and Cultural Factors:Influencing College Students’ English Writing and How to Teach

影响大学生英语写作的因素多种多样,其中主要有两个:语言因素和文化因素。学生不了解英汉两种语言之间的差异,以及对语言中文化因素的不敏感,是导致他们常常写出所谓的汉式英语的根本原因。这也是在写作教学中应着重注意的地方。

Although there are various factors which can have influence on Chinese students＇ writing in English, the most prevalent two, according to the author, are the unawareness of the differences between those two languages and the insensitivity towards the cultural factors involved in language. They are the primary reasons why Chinese students always create the so-called ＂Chinglish＂ in their writing.
