Searching for Traces of History from the Musical Notes——The Features and Existing Methods of Taiwan Aboriginal People's Polyphonic Singing

台湾原住民泛指17世纪中国大陆沿海地区人民尚未大量移入之前已经居住在台湾及其邻近岛屿的居民。目前被台湾行政院认定的原住民共有14族,约48万多人,占台湾总人口数的百分之二。台湾原住民歌唱形式多种多样,而其中的复音歌唱是一种具有地方特色的歌唱。它的形成与其生活方式、民族习性、地理环境有着紧密的关系。

Taiwan aboriginal people roughly refer to the residents who had inhabited Taiwan and its neighbouring islands before the large number of immigration from the coastal areas of mainland of the 17th century. Now the 14 ethnic groups, about 480,000 aboriginal people, ascertained by Taiwan administrative council, account for 2% of Taiwan total population. They have various singing methods, among which the polyphonic singing is of local characteristic. Its formation has close relationship with these people＇s living methods, ethnic habits and geographical conductions.
