Emerging in the 18th century, flourishing in the 19th, and culminating with the publication of William Golding's Lord of the Flies, British sea novels for children have a long history of three centuries. Such novels, on one hand, present the image of seas and the relationship between humans and the sea, and on the other hand, always convey a moral concern for children readers, which is an embodiment of the great tradition carried on in British novels.
