Discussion on the Importance of Integrity in Confucius's Thinking System

孔子的道德思想中诚信主要以"信"这一概念出现。孔子本人就其重要性从四个方面作了论述:首先,"仁"是孔子整个道德思想的精髓所在,是对各种善的品德的最高概括,而"信"则是实现"仁"的必然要求;其次,"信"是一个人的立身之本,人无信则无以立、无以行;再次,"信"是交往之道,即诚实守信是沟通人际关系、促进人与人之间相互尊重与理解的精神纽带;最后,"信"是立国之基,强调诚信是政府取信于民的根本途径。

According to kongzi, Integrity is the most important to keep faith with others. Firstly, kindness is inmost thoughts of kongzi＇ s morality ideology,which is a perfect summary. What＇ s more faith is a necessary requirement to have kindness. Secondly, faith is a basic quality that a man need to build his life and career. No one can make a living, even succeed without faith. Thirdly, faith is a basic communication, faith is a bridge by which we can communicate with others and improve the respect and understanding between people. Finally ,faith is the base of setting up country and making it stronger, faith is the only way that the government makes itself believed in by the people .
