三峡地区土家族吊脚楼,是三峡及周边地区土家族人们世代居住的一种独有的建筑形式,它延续了几千年前南方先民开创的干栏式建筑特点,同时又融合了三峡地区山区地理特征,在大江、溪沟边用干栏式支撑起吊;山中坪坝用石块、土垒筑起吊;山麓边依山就势斜撑起吊。充分展现出土家族先民的聪明才智,其优秀的建筑表现手法和顺应自然,利用自然来达到天地人社会和谐的建筑理念,为我们留下了一笔丰富优秀的文化遗产。

Tujia Diaojiaolou is an unique architectural form that Tujia people have lived in for generations in the Three Gorges and the surrounding areas. It has inherited the dry field architectural features created by the southern an- cestors several thousand years ago and at the same time blended the mountainous geographic characteristics of the Three Gorges region. Tujia Diaojiaolou fully demonstrates the wisdom of Tujia ancestors. Its outstanding architectural style and the concept of building a heaven-earth-man harmonious society by conforming to the nature have left us with a rich cultural heritage.
