The temperature rising behavior of Co/La 2O 3 catalysts with different Co contents and the activity of 10%Co/La 2O 3 catalyst for CH 4 partial oxidation to syngas under microwave irradiation have been studied. The higher content of Co in Co/La 2O 3, the higher temperature can be reached under microwave irradiation. Compared with the conventional heating, the temperature of the catalytic bed is much lower and higher selectivity to CO can be obtained with microwave irradiation, which could be attributed to the “microwave hot spot” effect.
