“改造民族灵魂”能够统摄“二十世纪中国文学”总主题吗?——关于中国现代文学史分期问题的再思考

Can the Transformation of the Soul of a Nation Govern the Theme of the Twentieth Century Chinese Literature?

黄子平等人提出了"二十世纪中国文学"概念,这一新的文学史概念及其背后的文学史观念在学界产生了深远的影响。然而,在当下新的语境中,对这一概念有重新检视的必要。作为统摄"二十世纪中国文学"总主题的"改造民族灵魂"并不能敉平近代文学、现代文学、当代文学之间的政治、社会、文化断层,而传统文学史分期至今仍有其自身的合理性。

Huang Ziping, Chen Pingyuan, Qian Liqun jointly proposed a new concept： ＂the Twentieth Century Chinese Literature＂ in Chinese literary history. This is an important event in the study of literary history, and reflects the strong desire of literary history study to break away from a single political sociology perspective and expectations of the modernization. The concept of literary history and its phases behind it have had a profound impact in the academic community. But as the context changes, some new problems have begun to surface. By analyzing the overall theme ＂transformation of the soul of the nation＂ in the concept of the twentieth century Chinese literature＂, this paper shows such a concept does not enshroud the political, social and literary differences between later-day literature, modern literature and contemporary literature. Such a division of literary history stages still has its own rationality far into the future.
