Philosophical Reflections on Context

语境可以广义地理解为说话的环境,也可以狭义地理解为一个句子所处的上下文。语境的研究往往离不开与意义的关联,因为意义与语境是本质地联系在一起的,意义由语境限定,语境构成了语言哲学研究的基底。笔者就语言哲学家对语境的哲学思考进行探讨,有助于为语境的研究寻找更多的理论支撑,从而更好地为语言的准确理解提供思路。

Context can not only be broadly viewed as the situation of speech, but also be narrowly referred to the concrete context a sentence is in. Usually, we cannot study context without discussing meaning, for meaning is essentially associated with context and bound by context, which constitutes the base of the research of language philosophy. This paper is a preliminary discussion a- bout the language philosopher＇s reflections on context, with the view to finding more theoretical backup for the research of con- text, so that a better path may be provided to the precise understanding of language.
