The Transformation of Power in Mitwisser′s Family——An Application of Foucault′s Power Theory in Heir to the Glimmering World

美国犹太女作家辛西娅.奥齐克的新作《微光世界的继承人》为我们展示了一个犹太家庭戏剧性的变迁。文章应用福柯的"权力话语"理论,分析教授"失权"的过程和原因,从而揭示奥齐克的创作意图,肯定其作品在美国犹太小说史上的地位。

Heir to the Glimmering World, written by Jewish American writer, Cynthia Ozick, has revealed to us the dramatic change happened, in a Jewish family, whose patriarchal parent professor Mitwisser, originally a respectful scholar in the academic world, gradually loses his power and finally becomes disabled. This paper mainly analyzes the process of the professor＇s power-losing through the application of Foucault＇s theory of ＂powder＂, and reveals the creative intention, so that the greatness of Ozick as a Jewish American writer can be fully shown.
