Objective To observe the effect of Atorvastatin Calcium in the treatment of cerebral infarction patients with carotid atherosclerosis plaque. Method The cerebral infarction patients were at random divided into research group of 40 cases and control group of 38 cases. The Atorvastatin Calcium of 20 mg each night and Aspirin of 100 mg each day were used in the research group, while the Aspirin of 100 mg each day and diet control or taking the non-statin lipid-lowering drugs were carried out in the control group. The examination of blood fat level and the carotid artery ultrasound check were respectively conducted on hospitalization or after 3 months, 6 months or 12 months' treatment, then appraising the accumulative marks of carotid atherosclerosis plaque. Result The values of TC and LDL-C in serum after the 3-month, 6-month or 12 month's treatment were obviously lower than those before the treatment (P〈0.01) and the HDL-C absolutely increased after the 12-month's treatment (P〈0.01 ) in the research group. The values of TC, TG and LDL-C in serum a little increased comparing with the values before the treatment and the HDL-C had no significant changes in the control group. After the 6-month's or 12 month's treatment, the accumulative marks of carotid atherosclerosis plaque dropped in the research group and increased in the control group (P〈0.05) . Conclusion Using the Atorvastatin Calcium to lower the blood fat is effective, which can decrease and stabilize the carotid atherosqlerosis plaque, improve the carotid atherosclerosis and decrease the reoccurrence of ischemis stroke.
