在小说《拍卖第49批》中,美国后现代主义小说家品钦使科学知识在文学叙事文本中再现,用热力学和信息论的熵来暗喻社会的混乱,用信息论的多义性和物理学的不确定性来揭示后现代社会中事物的复杂性和不确定的现实世界。品钦的文学叙事文本进一步表明,后现代科学与后现代艺术都在追求差异,在本质上颇为相似。
In his novel The Crying of Lot 49,Pynchon makes scientific knowledge reappear in the narrative text of literature by using entropy (the measure unit of chaos) of thermodynamics and information theory as a metaphor to show the chaos of the society,polysemy of information theory (the result of much information equivocally organized at different levels) and indeterminacy of physics (the appearance of non-causal relation,the unpredictable appearance,and the basic uncertainty of measuring process effected by physical action) to reveal the complexity of things in the postmodern world and the uncertain real world.Pynchon's narrative text further indicates that both postmodern science and postmodern art seek differences and they are quite similar to each other in nature.
