The town of Shiyang,the ancient"Capital of Salt,"on the beautiful,Southern Silk Road,nestles like a bright pearl set into silk. The town is located in Dayao County,in the southwest of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture in central Yunnan,where more than ten nationalities have lived for generations,among them the Yi,Hui,Miao,Bai,Dai,and Hani peoples.Shiyang has been famous for salt production since the Han(206 BC—220 AD) and Tang Dynasties(618—907 AD),and it gradually grew to become Yunnan’s"Capital of Salt."
