义夫作为王朝制度下的常规旌表名目之一,其涵盖的旌表对象在历代并不一致。按时代顺序,义夫之义经历了从非血缘之义、血缘之义、到夫妻之义的变迁。这一变动的背后,反映出的是中国传统社会尚义心理的走向:亲缘范围愈窄,义缘范围愈广,最终以丧妻不娶为义行的观念体现出以核心小家庭为本位的世俗情怀。
