Advancement of Image Compression Technique

图像压缩就是把图像文件压缩变小,同时图像的质量不可失真到不能接受的程度,以便在一个给定的储存空间中,保存尽可能多的文件,并加快信息在网络上的传递速度,因此已成为当前的一项极其重要的研究课题,进展极为迅速,目前压缩比已可达到100∶1,还在继续提高。本文扼要阐述其基本情况和原理。

Image compression technique can compress the volume of an electronic document without seriously affecting the image quality thus increasing the storage capacity of a given memory space and speeding up the information transmission on the internet, consequently becoming a hot research subject all over the world at the present time. Its research has been advancing very quickly： presently the compression ratio has already hit 100：1. This paper presents an outline of its advancement and the general working mechanism.
