China’s exports of engineering machinery rebounded in the turbulent markets in 2009.In January and February of that year, the exports ended their downward slide and began a remarkable recovery that stabilized in the second and third quarters.The year-end is normally the off-season for machinery exports.But 2009 was different in that machinery exports actually kept rising.In October,the export rate was even higher than it had been in the first two months of the year,with excavator exports leaping at an astonishing year-on-year rate of 265 percent, loader exports ascending at 11 percent,and bulldozer exports dropping at 11 percent,which was a milder decline than had been experienced in preceding months.And these positive trends continued in November and December.Many factors contributed to surging exports of engineering machinery.Among these were the stimulus package of 4 trillion yuan,the aberrantly rising housing market,and low costs.Although these factors may wane in 2010, the engineering machinery exports will rise as global markets gradually revive.
