北京丰台花卉文化的源头可以上溯到金、元时期,元代是其蓬勃兴起的重要阶段。在国家统一和城市建设的影响下,大都城南地区别墅众多、文人雅集,带动了花卉种植业的兴起与赏花风尚的形成;永定河主河道的移出,为花卉种植提供了水脉、土壤以及交通等适宜的自然条件。社会变动与环境变迁,共同促进了北京城南部这一特色地域文化的发展。
