天命论思想作为古代蒙古人思想体系的重要组成部分,对蒙古族族源传说的产生和发展影响深远。把蒙古族族源传说置于中国北方少数民族文化与文学传统中进行探源,可以看出蒙古族族源传说脱胎于蒙古人萨满教神话,与早期萨满教"天崇拜"信仰有着密切联系,其思想根源为天命论思想。
