Language is the carrier of and also a main part of culture.Language taboo is considered as a social and cultural phenomenon which roots in the rich and profound cultural reserves of a nation.Language taboos in English and Chinese are quite different due to the differences between the socities and cultures they root in.Studying on the differences between Chinese and English language taboos helps erase cultural communication obstacles and introducing this study into foreign language teaching can enhance language learners and users＇ commucation ability.
