Promoting Humanistic Education in College English Teaching

文章简略分析了东西方人文教育的历史渊源和现状,提出培养学生人文素质的关键是更新教育工作者的观念,提高教师人文素质,在教学内容、教学方法与手段、教学评价等方面贯穿人文教育理念,不断提高学生的语言和文化综合素质。

Humanistic education is critical to the development of the country and the revitalization of the nation. In order to better meet the social needs and get rid of negative effects from the utilitarianism and exam - oriented educational system, it is necessary to promote humanistic education in the College - English - teaching. So this paper first analyzes the historical and present development of the humanistic education both in eastern and western countries. Then it points out that the key of shaping the students＇ humanistic spirit is to improve the overall qualities of English teachers and combine their teaching approach, content, process, evaluation etc. with the humanistie education so as to better cultivate students＇ humanistic accomplishment.
