Global feminisms have been gaining increasing currency as an important international feminist theoretical discourse. This ar-ticle divides this discourse along four lines of arguments addressing the key question of why there is a need for feminists to imagine "the feminist" and "the global" together. The four components include:(1) global sisterhood and its critique,(2) feminism as a traveling theory,(3) women and development in response to globalization,(4) women's human rights movement. The objective of this article is not an integration of discourses;rather,it intends to describe a new frontier of feminist theorization and its development amidst differ-ent voices, debates and ongoing communications. It also hopes to involve more Chinese scholars and activists into the building of this theoretical discourse.
