Mr. Feng Dawen＇s new book, A Brief Account of Chinese Classic Philosophy, has made a variety of theoretical contributions to Chinese traditional philosophy. His exploration of the ＂worldliness＂ of the foundational Confucianism formulated by Confucius and Mencius, his reflections on the cosmology of the philosophy of the Han and Tang Dynasties, his query of the ＂secularization＂ in the idealist and mentalist philosophies of the Song and Ming Dynasties, etc., are all very ingenious and provocative, showing Feng＇s genuine insight into the spiritual process of the Chinese nation. Moreover, the distinctive theme of ＂faith＂ and ＂value＂ runs through the whole book. A real tour de force!
