清代古音学代表人物都未尽废叶韵之说,他们或直接以叶韵名目解释上古韵文随韵改读现象,或用叶韵之法而易其名目。这种叶韵观建立在古韵系统研究的科学基础上,是清代古音学重要内容之一。

All the representatives of the ancient phonology of the Qing Dynasty did not completely abolish harmonic rhymes, and they either directly explained the pronunciation changes of the ancient rhymes according to the items of harmonic rhymes or changed the items according to the approach of harmonic rhymes. This view of harmonic rhymes, which was scientifically based on the systematical research on the ancient rhymes, was one of the important contents of the ancient phonology in the Qing Dynasty.
