Interrogation of Difficult Position of Existence——Interpretation of Hesse’s Novels

从早期小说《在轮下》开始,黑塞在其绝大部分小说创作中都致力于对艺术家及普通小人物的生存状态进行刻画,描写他们的生存困境,以及他们想从困境中逃脱的抗争,但是他的人物都只能以死亡为结局,只有在死亡中才能解决冲突。

Springing from the early novel ＂Under Wheel＂, Hesse devotes himself to describing the survival condition of the artist as well as the ordinary person,both their difficult survival position and their protest for escaping from the predicament. But all of his figures are doomed to die and only by the death can the conflict be resolved.
