This essay analyzes the operating characteristics of the portal crane, and elaborates first on the use of the INVT CHV190 crane-dedicated frequency converter in a portal crane, and then on the principles of type selection associated with the motor, frequency converter and its braking mode adopted in such applications as well as the methods for calculating the capacity of the peripheral equipment of the frequency converter. It then gives some application cases in which the CHV190 frequency converter is used.
