摘要
根据其发展特点,英语标点符号的系统性演变,宜分成萌芽期、发展期、现代标点体系形成期、现代标点体系成熟期和当代标点体系时期五个阶段。15世纪至18世纪末,英语标点符号形成了形式特征明显且书写简便,功能齐备,系统性强的成熟体系。
The systemic evolution of English punctuation marks can be divided in accordance with its characteristics into five phases： the seedtime stage, the developing stage, the forming stage of modem punctuation system, the ripping stage of modem punctuation system, and the contemporary punctuation system stage. The period from 15th century A. D. to 18th century A. D. witnessed the emergence of a mature punctuation system that is at once marked in appearance and easy to put down, complete in repertoire of functions, and systemic.
