Yard has been one important component of domestic traditional building; it is of the function not only for etiquette, work and rest, but also for bettering thermal environment of habitation. This experience is worth using for reference in climatic adaptability design. The paper makes introduction to Zhongshan project design about its flexible operation of yard and its improvement of indoor thermal comfort. The practical effect and significance in thermal environment of modern low-rise housing in Lingnan have been confirmed by paying return visit and thermal environment test.
