韩贞在传统"生而知之"的思想基础上继承了泰州学派圣愚平等、贵贱平等以及男女平等思想,大力倡导和实践人人平等。他强调了"人人天地善"这一平等的本性特征,认为每个人的位份虽然不同,但通过学习都可以成为圣人,并在此基础上作出了野老能成圣、道江鱼能化龙的判断,主张人与人之间平等相待、享受平等的政治与教育权利。
