Holding on to the Practice of Leading the Social Trend of Thought with Socialist Core Value System——Enlightenment from the Controversy over the "Fan Paopao" Incident and the Universal Values

2008年汶川大地震期间发生的"范跑跑"事件和"普世价值"争论启示我们:必须坚定不移地用社会主义核心价值体系引领纷繁复杂的社会思潮,必须重视社会主义核心价值体系引领社会思潮的原则、方法和策略问题。唯有如此,才能巩固社会主义的主流意识形态、打牢党和人民团结奋斗的共同思想政治基础,确立构建社会主义和谐社会的共同目标取向,夯实中国特色社会主义事业的根基。

The debate over the ＂Fan Paopao＂ Incident and the universal values which happened during the Wenchuan Earthquake period in 2008 has given us some enlightenment. It tells us that we must unswervingly hold on to the practice of leading the delicate social trend of thought with socialist core value system and that great importance should be attached to the principles, methods and strategies for achieving that goal. Only in this way can we strengthen the socialist mainstream ideologies, lay a solid foundation both ideologically and politically for the unity between the party and the people, establish a common goal-orientation for the building of a socialist harmonious society, and consolidate the groundwork for the development of socialist cause with Chinese characteristics.
