成长于五四新文化运动中的朱自清受欧美留学归来的知识分子的影响,崇尚民主和自由精神,追求人格独立;同时也受到中国传统文化的影响,热爱祖国,关注现实社会,注重伦理修养,以中国传统文化弥补自由主义思想的某些欠缺。

Growing up in the New Culture Movement around the May 4th Movement in 1919,Zhu Ziqing was deeply influenced by intellectuals who had received their education in Europe and America;this made him an advocator of democracy and freedom and a seeker of integral and independent personality.Simultaneously,the traditional culture of China deeply rooted in his heart made him an ardent lover of his motherland,a keen observer of the real-world society,and a man of virtue and culture;he successfully remedied the defects in his liberal thoughts by means of the merits of traditional Chinese culture.
