从防火标志到建筑装饰——兼论鸱吻形象在徽州的发展演变

From the symbol of fire-fighting to the architectural decoration——the discussion of the development of Chiwen in Huizhou'

古代人把鸱吻安装在屋脊上,认为它具有喷水灭火的能力,可以保佑建筑免遭火灾。徽州建筑上的鸱吻装饰,不仅具有防火的寓意,还寄托了人们对读书求仕的祈望,同时也体现了徽州建筑的设计艺术。

The Ancient people installed Chiwen （sculpture of owl＇s mouse） on the roof, as they thought it could spray water and extinguish a fire so as to protect the architecture from fire. Installing Chiwen on Architecture of Huizhou not only has the meaning of fire fighting but also reposes people＇s wishes for becoming officials through study and reflects the artistry of architecture of Huizhou.
