A Tentative Discussion on CHEN Du-xiu's Social Educational Thought and the Practice

陈独秀是著名的教育家,他不仅重视学校教育,也重视社会教育,做了大量的论述;并亲自创办报刊,发表演说,创设校外教育机构等,进行社会教育,提高国民的素质,积累了丰富的经验,今天仍有现实意义。

CHEN Du-xiu was a famous educationalist who paid attention to not only school education, but also social education, and he did extensive discussions about it. He launched a newspaper, made speeches, and established educational institutions outside the school to provide social education so as to improve qual- ity of the nationals. CHEN＇s rich experience accumulated is still of practical significance.
