Abstract: The paper describes cracks and deformations often incurred by corrugated metallic expansion joints,positioned at the entrance of high temprature boiler air preheaters,discusses the reason of their occurence and possible consequences.The structural features of non metallic expansion joints,which the paper advises to be widely used in boilers,are presented simultaneously.
