The present study explores the cultural narrative comlex in Sinclair Lewis＇s novels,which is still under dispute in existing criticism.It is argued that what the cultural environment of Lewis＇s growth resulted in is not hatred and solitariness,but the extraordinary observation,accurate expression,great reserves of knowledge,enormous exercise of willpower in the pursuit of excellence and revealing the ugliness,strong sense of social responsibility and rebellious spirit,which play an important role in the cultural narrative of his novels.
