从意识形态解读庞德英译《论语》的“不忠”现象

A study of Ezra Pound's unfaithful translation of The Analects from the perspective of ideology

通过意识形态分析,重新解读了庞德英译《论语》中的"不忠实"现象。庞德翻译的《论语》很大程度上取决于当时社会的主流意识及庞德个人的意识形态:对新诗学的追求以改变维多利亚时代单调低沉的风格;对新的伦理道德的传播以求拯救日益没落的社会秩序等等。要对其译文做出公正、历史的评价,而不是简单地将原作与译作进行对比,并做出忠实与否的判断。

This paper explores the influence of ideology on Ezra Pound＇ s translation of The Analects, and stud- ies the ＂unfaithfulness＂ of his translation from a new and effective perspective. It is found that the translation is the product of the ideology of both the society and Pound himself at that time. The mainstream ideology of the society and Pound＇ s ideology, the pursuit for new poetry, and for a change of the dull style of Victorian age, the need for the spread of new morality and social order, have influenced Pound＇ s translation of The Analects a lot. Thus fair and just judgments should he made from a historical point of view.
