A Brief Study of Sino-French Conference Clauses' Signing and Restarting of Sino-France War

《中法会议简明条款》是中法战争过程中双方试图取得妥协的一个和约。由于双方谈判过程中的细节问题,双方最终兵戎相见,中法冲突再次爆发。这与双方的根本利益冲突有关,但是另一方面的原因则是一些技术性问题。究其原因,首先,双方的谈判者李鸿章与福禄诺的交涉不符合近代外交的规范;其次,总署和中枢以及最高统治者对于《简明条款》的内容没有进行深入核查,使得条约中的隐患得以延续;第三,双方对于《简明条款》第二款的模糊处理和误解使得中法之间再次爆发冲突。

Sino- French Conference Clauses was a treaty from which both sides tried to get compromise luring Sino - France War. Due to some detailed questions in the negotiation, the two countries finally met on the battle, and Sino -France War broke out. This had something to do with the fundamental interest clashes, and the other reason was due to some technique problems. The reason was that the negotiation between LI Hung - hang and Foumier didn＇ t meet the standards of contemporary diplomacy. And the top leaders of two sides didn＇ t study in a deep - going way and resulted in hidden trouble. Furthermore, there existed fuzzy solution and misunderstandings in the second clause which caused Sino - France War to break out.
