In September of 2004, archaeologists carried out a rescue excavation of a looted tomb of the early Western Han. It is a rectangular vertical pit tomb with two wooden coffins- an outer coffin and an inner one. About 180 remaining burial objects were found, including pottery, lacquerwares, a jade seal, and objects made of wood, bamboo, bone, or metal. Some of the lacquerwares, gold plaque ornaments, wooden wares, and bamboo wares are especially fine. The jade seal found in the tomb indicates that the occupant of the tomb was Liu Wuzhi, who may have been a member of the family of Liu Bi, the king of the kingdom Wu in the Western Han.
