Discourse ambiguity is an indirect speech act, which is generated in the specific environment the parties of a verbal communication are involved. Cognitive context reveals the cognitive psychological argument of the generation and interpretation of meaning. Cognitive context is the internalization of tradi- tional context and is able to specify the meaning of an ambiguous structure. This paper deals with the rea- sons for discourse ambiguity and explains how cognitive context explains and restricts discourse ambiguity.
