This paper aims to explore the common theme of contemporary fairy-tale rewriting practice from the postmodern feminist perspective based on Foucauldian theory. These rewriting works, from the angle of female body, with an ultimate goal to explore female subjectivity, resist the power relations dominated by patriarchy in the discursive field.Viewing from three aspects,discipline,punishment,self-surveillance,the present study explores the two-fold mission of contemporary fairy tale rewriting:on the one hand,to expose the process of how submissive female subjects are shaped by patriarchal power through bodily techniques in canonical fairy-tale texts, and,on the other hand,to provide possibilities for more autonomous female subjects by positively portraying rebellious women with subversive bodies.
