文学界给予彭斯的关注少之又少,多是认为彭斯的诗歌主要是以歌颂爱情为主的抒情诗,"浅白无味",意义不大。本文拟从其政治诗、爱情诗、自然诗等探讨"彭斯诗中的爱总是多元复式的,他的爱是博大的"。他特有的淳朴自然、极富乡土气息的语言,表达了对现存秩序的鄙视、对未来平等社会的向往和热爱大自然、劳动人民的浪漫主义自由情怀,诗人的自然情结为19世纪浪漫主义的发展带来了一股强劲的、清新的风尚。
