In Kennedy administration, the Third World had been the focus of US-Soviet competition. India was regarded as a "showcase for democracy" and became priority in the recipient countries. The U.S. development aid to India reached a climax after World War II. Kennedy Administration's development aid to India, was considered largely from the perspective of ideology, global strategy and national interests.
