分析了当前数据库（ＤＢ）技术的发展状况，探讨了数据库管理系统（ＤＢＭＳ）为什么要面向对象．在分析当前数据库技术发展的基础上，提出了面向对象的数据库管理系统（ＯＯＤＢＭＳ）应以开发研究对象管理器、数据库系统生成器、可扩充的关系数据库系统和面向对象数据库语言等方面为主要途径．

The present paper analyses the development of current data base techniques and explains why DBMS should orientateits objects.On the basis of the analysis of current data base techniques,the paper advances new development ways of OODBMS.
