Scale Evolution of Suzhou Garden Architecture during the Ming and Qing Dynasties from Viewpoint of Man-land Relationship

苏州园林建筑作为江南私家园林建筑的典范,已成为众多园林专家和建筑学者的关注焦点,而苏州园林建筑的总体特征,实际上是呈阶段性变化的。最显著的,便是历史上人口数量和土地面积此消彼长的变动关系,直接或间接促使园林建筑在面积匹配方面形成应时性的变化规律。文章拟从人地关系切入,探讨人地冲突与建筑规模浮动的关联。

As a typical example of the private garden architectures on the Yangtze Delta,Suzhou garden architecture has become the focus of attention for many garden specialists and architectural scholars.But in general the Suzhou garden architecture constructed at different periods of time varies with each other.It is obvious that the varied interactions of population and land area at different periods of time in history have directly or indirectly influenced the scale of garden architecture.The paper will focus on the connection of man-land conflict with architecture scale from the viewpoint of man-land relationship.
