Objective: To investigate the value of MR diffusion weighted imaging in evaluation of metastatic and reactive proliferative lymph nodes. Methods: 24 New Zealand rabbit were randomly divided into two groups, metastatic and reactive proliferative lymph nodes models were made respectively. ADC values of lymph nodes in the two groups were compared. Meanwhile, the relative signal intensity to muscle on the DWI images of the lymph nodes in the two groups were measured and compared. Pathologic analysis were performed afterward. Results: There was no significant difference between relative signal intensity of lymph nodes in the two groups(P〉0. 05).ADC value of metastatic lymph node group was less than that of reactive proliferative lymph nodes group. The ADC value was 0.82±0.10×10^-3mm^3/s and 1.17± 0.14×10^-3mm^3/s respectively, and the difference was significant(P〈0.05). Conclusion: MR diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) is helpful in differentiation of metastatic and reactive proliferative lymph nodes.
