关联翻译理论指导下的中医隐喻翻译

Relevance Translation Theory and the Translation of Metaphors in TCM

隐喻是人类语言最重要的表达手段之一,在人们的日常生活中普遍存在。中医术语里也出现了大量的隐喻。由于中医隐喻具有浓郁的中国传统文化特色,其翻译存在着不少的障碍,而关联翻译理论是扫除这些障碍的有效的指导理论。根据中医隐喻的分类,Gutt的关联翻译理论里面的"直接翻译"与"间接翻译"思想可以直接运用到中医隐喻的翻译中,使译文与读者的期盼相吻合,达到最佳关联。

As one of the most important language devices, metaphor is a common phenomenon in people＇ s lives. It also appears in many of the TCM terms. Because of the strong Chinese cultural characteristics of TCM, there exist some obstacles in the translation of metaphors in TCM. The relevance translation theory then can function as an ef- fective tool to help eliminate those obstacles. Gutt＇ s theory of ＂direct translation＂ and ＂indirect translation＂ can be applied to the translation of metaphors in TCM according to the classification. In this way, the translation ver- sions can be matched with the readers＇ expectation , and the optimal relevance can be achieved.
