This essay explores the possibility of reading Asian American literature alongside trauma theory, and the relationships among trauma theory, Asian American literary criticism and Asian American Men Studies. It examines the impact of American racism upon Asian American men and the representation of their traumatic experience in Asian American literature. The aim of this essay is to demonstrate how trauma theory works within the orbit of literary studies and, moreover, to further the work of Asian American literary criticism.
